Food for thought....

I am consumed with mulberries , they are everywhere, on the car, on my verandah, in my lawn, and in my tummy! We love them ,most of all Toby(my dog), who I might add is slowly but surely looking a bit brighter. Everyday, I find more and more huge ones dangling from the tree, and Toby just sits and waits for me to feed him! Unfortunately they stain everything too!

So I had no choice but to make a pie, and surprise! surprise! It was yummy! The last one I made, thought Id add apple as well, and didnt like the idea of adding all that sugar, but apparently you need it! Not good!

I have been quite busy lately, painting, fixing, and cleaning more things to list on ebay. I have the same problem alot of you have ,so many ideas, and not enough time! Here are just a few...

I havent been out fossicking for a while either, it depresses me, especially when I see all the wonderful things my good friend Jenni finds! So I am working my way through my verandah, I can see the light...

One of the things I found was this gorgeous book, dated 1921.It looks well read, and interesting how the pictures were pasted in...it has some great pictures and illustrations. I might have to keep this one!

Now , here is something for you all to ponder over...
I like recycling and reusing as much as the next person. But when I accidently gave birthday gifts to 'my good friend Jenni', one of them was inscribed with,'To dear Sue....' ! After the initial shock of what I had done, we burst out in laughter! She said she will return it to me next birthday! Has anyone else done something like that?? What is even funnier is that I havent read the book, dont even remember getting it though it did seem familiar, and had it stored with some xmas presents to give, so funny! Jen, if you are reading this, Im so sorry!

Well, gotta get ready, I have a date with hubby, he's away so much I have to book him in!

Tick Tock, Tick Tock!

Time is just ticking away, can you believe there are only 10 weeks till christmas??
I have to say , I used to despize people for telling me how many weeks till the big day....after working in retail for so many years, and preparing christmas in August/ September, it just dragged on for so long! I also used to dress the store and windows of David Jones, Christmas was a huge and exhausting time!

Then we would prepare for the Boxing Day sales, and work flat out for the next month...

Dont get me wrong, I love christmas, I love decorating, and I love buying gifts, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.

Working from home, has put this special season into a better perspective, away from the frantic crowds, and people reminding me how long to go, and of cause, the temptation of buying up everything in sight! The prospects of eventually giving in ,and taking that first step, are on the cards...in fact I think I just took it today! I came home from delivering a shelf sold through ebay, with bags of 'stuff' from shops! It is all just a blur, I dont really remember what happened, Im sure when I get my creditcard statement, that will remind me!!
Toby and I just want to thank everyone for their kind words of support from my previous blog, Toby is , well adjusting I guess. He seems a bit happier, and still manages to fetch a toy just has trouble hanging onto it! More importantly, he is teaching us to play the game. He usually runs to the toy, barks for us to pick it up, and then wants us to throw it again! Not so silly is he!! He starts his injections next week, to help manage his condition, and of cause, the pain. At least now, I know of one other case the vet has treated the past 5 years with it, and she said they can live quite comfortably, just some adjustments. So thankyou again......

Just thought I'd show you this gorgeous music book! I found it just in time for (dare I say it again) Christmas! Would you believe I have a collection of very old music books, and I didnt even know I collected them?? Yes I am a true blonde!

Like alot of you, I have made alot of my xmas decorations over the years, and always like to share my ideas. So, next week I will be organising some more items for ebay, so I will drag out the collection of chrissy things I intend to sell!

A story to share...

My 'baby boy', Toby, is unwell.

After a week or so, thinking is he ok, is it the hot weather, has he eaten something? One morning, I went to play with him, threw his toy for him to retrieve, but he just rolled it with his nose. I thought he was just being a bit lazy, so I nagged him to bring it to me....he yelped when he tried to pick it up.

I thought he might have a bone stuck, or infected tooth, always having an answer for things. At only 3 and a half, Toby has a muscular condition, affecting his chewing muscles. He can pant, he can bark, he can eat, but he cant open his mouth more than an inch or two at best. He has had lots of tests, including a bioptsy of the muscle in his forehead and cheeks, as she predicts they are wasting away.

The vet said with medication for pain and management, he will live quite normally, but no bones, and toys...Toby's loves of his life!

Already he is showing much frustration and crying, as he runs down to the yard to retrieve a toy for us, and struggles to pick it up. So now he just sits, and looks sooo sad, wondering what's wrong with him.

If you have read my previous post starring Toby, then you would know, he is just adorable, and is my shadow.Since the kids are out more, and hubby is away alot, I guess he has been my companion, for the majority of the time too. He is a good listener, he is appreciative, he doesnt argue, though he does bark at me when it is time for dinner!

Hopefully he wont deteriorate any further, or he will have to be feed through a tube.

My daughter even joked about him always sleeping these days, he should have more energy as he is only 3! I laughed and said, well he is 21, he's probably been up partying all night!

If anyone else knows of this condition, Id be interested to know more....

Now, on a lighter note...

As some of you know, I love to transform things, with bits and pieces I have found. Well so does my dearest friend of nearly 30 years, except the difference being , she is a dooer, and Im the dreamer! Sue fossicked through my junk, and came up with this, and said it was the perfect thing she was looking for! I'll show you in the next blog what it becomes!

So I thought I would occasionally add some things around her garden and home, and show you how clever she is. I may even find a few I have actually finished!

Oh...is that ok Sue??

Sue often visits to remind me why she is such an important person in my, and my family's life. My house fills with flowers, my garden lights up with anticipation(she loves to garden), and my family are pampered with love and attention. When she leaves to go home to her family, she leaves a spark of inspiration, I want to get out in the garden, I want to clean my verandah, just for a split second, and I want to create!

If Sue is reading this, she will know it was hard to write, Im not generally a mushy kind of person...So we will leave it there!! So I want to dedicate part of this blog to Sue, because as well as being my inspiration, she is my support, and has been here all weekend, again, for me, and for Toby. The other part, I want to dedicate to is my 'baby boy', who knows how much I love him, and will find a way to get through this, and maybe even find some new ,smaller toys!

With all this going on , working seems to help pass the time, and I need all the money I can get to pay for all those tests! So here are a couple of new listings...

Guess what time it is here???? Mulberry time, just love them! And here in my little town, there are Mulberry trees galore, mine in particular, is about 70 years old!

I couldnt finish this blog without mentioning my other companion here, he whistles, talks( a

bit ),and he demands attention like Toby. His name is Chad.He is occasionally my daughter's, when she remembers him!

Well, if you managed to get through this blog, I thankyou for reading it, and promise the next ones will be shorter, had to get it off my chest. So I'll finish by adding this quote from 'Dont sweat the small stuff': Think of what you have, not what you want.....I have alot to be grateful for, and they certainly outway the wants!

What a day...

Well, what a day! It was blowing a gale, and whirlwinds of dust, but my mum and I battled it out as real troopers do!! We had a great day, despite the wind, and managed to sell alot of great stuff.
Our kind market neighbour looked after us, being a professional stall holder for 30 years! She helped tie down everything that could be tied down, so if they were going to go, so was the car!
It was a long day, and I came home a little rosier, quite sunburnt actually. Mum was well behaved, and sold some of her crafts, including ceramics, and bits and pieces!

I had a couple of visitors from blogland, and a couple of local friends, so it was a wonderful day!

So what I dont understand, is after packing the car, it was as full as we had started out!! Why is that?? I know what you are probably thinking, but no, I didnt buy anything, I was so good!!

So now it's back to ebay...keep watching!!

Here are a couple of new additions....

New quote for the day from 'dont sweat the small stuff'...

"If someone throws you the ball, you dont have to catch it".

Meaning, you dont have to keep giving all the time. You dont always have to be the shoulder to cry on, and carry everyone else's baggage, and you dont have to say yes all the time...something to think about!
