See what happens when Im left home alone?

I was left to my own devices over Easter which involved mixed emotions....Hubby and son went for a charity ride out to Burke!

I spent my wedding anniversary alone, but thankfully my friend came and kept me company.

I caught up with friends and family.

I ate some melted Easteregg my daughter bought me.

And....I made this!!!

Well, when I say I made it, I didnt really make it, I styled it!
I had a very old, some might say vintage, school chalkboard taking up space on my verandah.
I thought what better place to use it than as a bed head in my guestroom!

My first guest was my eldest daughter, she complained the timber hurt her head...
I finally bought the materials to make the soft insert, but before I could put it together, I had another guest stay in the guest room, he didnt like the timber in the head either...

So as a distraction from my presentation I should be preparing, I finally finished it today, but not before my middle daughter decided to stay in the guestroom tonight...
You can guess the outcome this morning...
So today ,I finally installed the soft insert.
Doesnt it look pretty?

Im happy with it, it's high, it's large, and it's the feature of the room... though I will also upholster the lower timber that you can just see, to be assured of no more sore heads!

Now for the rest of the room, starting with the horrible walls....
Will keep you up to date via facebook!

Odd jobs and loose ends....

Well  hello, welcome back to my small and humble part of the world!
Thankyou for entertaining me with your blogs over the New Year, it was like sitting back and relaxing with a cup of tea and a new magazine!

The title of this post says it all with a New year comes new jobs around the home! Maybe the term 'loose ends' doesnt quite describe the jobs at hand, they're more like fraying around the edges.

So many little things to be finished and fixed around here, and as quick as one is done, there are many more.
If you have read my blog over the last couple of months, you would know we have been having a run of bad luck, the jetski burnt to the ground, the washing machine broke down, the roof on the verandah leaks (only when it pours!), etc, etc!
Well, I thought I would take advantage of the little time my son has before he starts Tafe, and so I volunteered him, and his skills, to help around the house, fixing, finishing, sealing, and some general maintenance to get on top of things!

Check out the cute gloves!

Today we cleaned the gutters, fixed the leak, cut back some trees, and mowed the lawn.
Tomorrow, we will replace these doors to hide this mess....(another project for another day)!

And then there is the room swap(previous post) we are attempting in the next couple of weeks, but I will get to that soon!
Mmmm, mother and son bonding time ahead, lol!!
Here's a picture of my next redo to sell...or maybe keep!

So when do I find time to put on the paint clothes and earn a living?
Soon I hope!

'DISTRACTION', its a good thing, isnt it??

Well if you have read my last post, then you would understand, at this point any distraction is a good thing, especially when you know that once you start to clean one area, you are going to have to clean another to make room for the first lot of junk you need to find a space for!!!
So thankyou to my dear friend ,who handed over this gem for me to play with!!
It is an old industrial sewing machine and table, with accessories...the cotton reel holder may have to move to another table of mine!
So this is the 'before', keep watching, and you might see the 'after'! I'll see how long I can hold off clearing my verandah for....its too cold to be outdoors now anyway, right???
