Was I dreaming?

Wow, I feel like I just woke up, dreamt I had a wonderful short break on a cruise ship....

Oh that's right, I did!

Since getting home, my life has been full on, managing a shop has its perks, but it takes up alot of creative time!

Hopefully I will be back to part time soon, and can prepare for my next sale...

Yes, that's right! I have put it in writing!

28th April, 3 weeks away!

You know how I like to do the last minute panic,haha!

This time, Im lucky enough to have some help, and some contributions to the studio.

So I hope the locals can drop on by for a junking fix, there will be lots to shop!

 The weather here has been devine the last few days, so we have to get outdoors when we can, before the rain comes back!

So outdoors we did!

 Apart from pruning trees, doing lawns, and general cleanup on Saturday,

 Sunday was spent with good friends celebrating my dear friend Sue's birthday. If any of you havent ventured to Audley National Park, then you are missing something in your life!

 I grew up going to this lovely place for picnics at least a dozen times a year.

Since I hadnt been there for hmmm, about three decades, I was surprised to see a huge cafe built at the weir.

 The boatsheds were still original, and attracted lots of activity! The day was glorious, as was the food and company.

Why dont we do this more often? This was a question brought up more than once....

Sue with her fairy friends,little Annie is one of her god-daughters.

The lovely maple trees, lushious green grass....and a fairy or three taking shelter from the warm sunrays, made for a relaxing day! 

The food wasnt bad either...Seared Salmon with Nicoise salad and salsa verde...mmm, yumm!

We were going to have a walk, but only got as far as here, and collapsed!

Some great memories resurfaced that day, and now some new ones to add with good friends and  family.

Garden sculpture...

Im a big fan when it comes to garden sculptures, the more unusual, the better! But when they start moving on their own, I have to wonder if they come to life at night....


Toby just barked and barked, running back and forth ,to me, then back, trying to tell me we have a visitor! Thankfully my daughter came and rescued it( Im a chicken when it comes to anything creepy), and moved it out into the bush on the lane.

I had another wonderful visit (not the creepy kind) from Sue and her son Lucas for the weekend. She surprised me with these, and some lovely Jonquils...


I love cows, and Sue bought this cute biscuit cutter, so she baked!!! Sue doesnt bake, I dont think I have ever seen her bake in the nearly 30 years I have known her! What a lovely surprise, and they tasted yummy too!

We planned on painting over the weekend, but the weather wasnt on our side, so we ate, and visited nurseries, and Frou Frou, our fav past-time, and the boys mountain-biked.

Today was a different story...it was perfect weather for the first day of Spring! So I painted my toosh off! I even walked around looking for more things to paint!

Here is a glimpse of the studio, but where is the stock??? It's on its way, keep your hat on!

Junkin' all week long!

Can you have too much of a junk overload??

I dont think so...well, I'll find out tomorrow, and see if withdrawals kick in!

Tuesday, 'Sue' came to visit, a well deserved holiday of three fun-filled days with my family and I, well I could think of better places to have a holiday! That would be enough to drive anybody home, and not need to return for at least 12 months! But not dear, devoted friend Sue, after the three days were up, she stayed another two! By the time she was ready to go, my family were ready to trade ME in! Yes, she spoilt us rotten, and as always, left us,and my garden appreciating her visit.

So we hit the junkyards, the garage sales, and everything inbetween! Sorry about the lighting, it wasnt the best...

This junkyard in particular, was one I have been waiting to share for ages, Anna from Villa- anna had told me about it.It is out in the middle of farm land, and sheds running the length of a footy field, were filled to the brim with rusty relics, antiques, and collectables, of the rustic kind...love it!The owner's name is Kelly, and the stories he could tell! Having served his 'apprenticeship' on the streets as a kid(his words), and dragged through orphanages, he has sucessfully built up this business, travelling all over the country to save these old and wonderful things.Obviously passionate about it, and more than happy for us to spread the word.It is a work in progress, expanding as we speak, but anyone and everyone is welcome.

Sue and I finished up the week with garage sales this morning, and here are a few of the things I found.

I also bought some linen, and fabric, you can never have enough!

Cant wait to show you my progress in my Studio and office next post, so do check in!

But for now..back to work!

They do love me...

Just when I think Ive been forgotten, and the phone doesnt ring, and the door isnt knockin'....

Im bombarded with friends from all directions, asking me out to play!! Well in this case, 3 friends!Two of them called at an early hour on Saturday to go 'junkin' , so of course I obliged. The third friend was Sue, who came up in the afternoon for an overnight visit!

The weather was perfect, so I ignored the messy indoors, and enjoyed the beautiful warm sun, while it was there!

It is always so much fun doing the junk run with my friends Jenni and Wayne, we have alot of laughs, and it isnt long before the car is overflowing, so we have to do a drop off to fit more in! We tend to like different things, though I still regret grabbing the stone birdbath before Jen did, we almost broke out into a brawl! I saw a different side to Jen I hadnt seen before! Wayne is so patient, and only on the odd occasion does he start coughing, the signal it is time to go. I think he spent most of the time moving the car as we walked, which was nice for us!

Then sadly the day ended, and Sue had to pick me up, and drag me home, not before revisiting 'Frou Frou's', in Springwood, for one last buy of the day!

Sue, the avid gardener, had already been to the nursery she visits every time she comes up the mountains , I think that's the real reason she comes up here! We finished the day with a couple of bottles of wine, dinner, and chitchat, and collapsed at 9.30pm!

Sunday, was so sunny, after I made Sue work in the garden, and fill a wheelbarrow with lots of seedings, we visited Glenbrook nursery, then had a delicious lunch, before she had the long drive home.


So today has been like an early Christmas, going through all the bargains, and the musthaves, and all the things Sue brought up for me...she says she doesnt have room for, she is so disciplined!!

Ahhh... now back to work, till next weekend!!
