Taking a walk on the wild side....

I made the decision to leave my day job, something that I had been thinking about for a while.

It was for the right reasons I feel, as I have now taken up employment in my hubby's business.

Display pool at a show

After much convincing that he is an awesome boss, and his company offers rewards in more ways than I care to disclose, hehe,  joining him and his fabulous staff, was a no-brainer!

The new display centre in the making

Now before you think it, no, it has nothing to do with junk, antiques, vintage, shabby, or anything remarkably close, but as it is part time, I will have some free time to play with the studio!

Where do I start...
My first project was to paint and furnish my new Saturday office...well, when I say new, it is an old siteshed, half-tiled floor, bad paint job, and a rickety aircon...
Hubby's first words were, ' No old stuff is to enter this office'!
'What the', was my reply...
So this is my challenge. I havent worked with new, or modern before.

So far, Im not doing a very good job.
I found an old 70's shelf, love it, especially after I painted it. He said it was o.k.
Then I found a table and chairs....Im in the process of painting, but he doesnt like them,  'too curvy' he said.
He already found the lounge...I dont like it.
Well, I think this will test our work-relationship somewhat.

As I have mentioned on Facebook before, Andy works in the pool industry, manufacturing, sales, transport, and more recently landscape lifestyles. Im involved in consults, customer liason , and possibly design and marketing. The boss just doesnt know it yet , wink, wink!

This year has evolved into something I would never had imagined, my plans are like my furniture, they never stay put for long...
I believe things and people happen for a reason, and I am where Im meant to be at this moment, Im not sure why, but I will embrace it, and fly with it...

Of course, Junkstudio is my project, and my creative outlet.
I will continue to fill orders and try to have the occasional sale, and try to post about the latest junk find. But nothing is firm or set in concrete anymore, a realization of late.
I hope you will always be around to inspire me, and encourage me to stay on the junk wagon, and just give me a shove everynow and then,  to follow my dreams and enjoy everything that life throws my way.
A wonderful friend advised me of these words, she is so wise.....

It's ok, Ive got it covered....

I always say,
'If you're going to do a job, do it properly'!

Well,I think I did a brilliant job of covering everything in this office/craft/spare room....dont ya think??

Yeh, it has been a while since Ive been able to do anything in this room, and what's worse, it is in full view when we open the front door...My plan backfired!! I thought by having it close to the front door, I would keep it clean and organised, yeh right!

Ive made so many attempts to empty it out and start fresh, but I stand at the door, then walk away....but this afternoon, my eldest daughter gave me the nudge I needed!

Mind you, these photos are an hour into it, Ive dragged out alot of furniture as you can see, into the hallway and living area. There's actually some good stuff in here, shame you cant see it, I couldnt even close the door, clothes hanging all over it!

Hubby is away thank goodness, but back Monday, so it has to be finished by tomorrow afternoon....hahaha, and here I am blogging about it!

I better get back to it, I guess.....
Come back soon to see the tranformation!

While hubby's away....

The wife will...make lamps!

I have one more left to complete, just in time for the sale next Saturday!
Will share more pics soon!

What time is it...What day is it??

Im buried in work and junk!
'Operation cleanup' continues at a slow pace, adding one thing at a time to the studio pile!
(google image)

I also wanted to share with you, a little display my hubby put together at the
Pool, Spa and outdoor living expo in Sydney.
He sells, transports and delivers fibreglass pools around Australia, so expos are a great way to advertise!

As it was his first in Sydney, I thought I should check it out.It was by far the best display, and they were run off their feet all weekend with interest, and he may have sold the display spa pool too!

This video is without the spajets operating...It is the first fibreglass spapool to have a wet edge (where the water runs over the edge). And his mate made a roller to fit neatly under the deck, easily accessible to cover the pool when not in use.
If anyone is interested(in downunder of course), let me know!
My friend Jen hung out in the sauna most of time!

Now it is back to adding more stock to HERE, and then off to the real job!
Catcha!

Drop everything!!!

That's what I tend to do when I get an idea in my head...

Another early start this morning, 4.30am!!
 What the?

I woke with a headache, and then I remembered why....

....Warning, long story ahead....

Yesterday, was my day off from my outside job, and hubby had just left to go to Perth,so, although I had a short list of to-do's, and a couple of people to see, (not to mention the daily grime..washing,cleaning and more washing!),I was hoping to surrender to the wet and cool weather, and pull up a book or movie for a couple of hours in the afternoon, ahhh, sounds good doesnt it?

Yeh, I was dreamin!!

But then I had a light bulb moment!
Since hubby's out of here temporarily,  I could get the three tins of paint out of the boot of the car (been there for two weeks), and start on my bedroom....who cares if it's raining, it will be dry by the time he gets back, and wella, a surprise!
Honestly, I dont do these things to surprise him, he never notices anyway!

So I got dressed in my paint casual clothes ,dropped everything I had planned, including the two hour rest, and went to town!!

I painted four walls(with the exception of the wardrobe and french doors, and ensuite door), and a cupboard, the cupboard being the one I moved six pieces of furniture to get to my bedroom!
All of which took three coats, just enough paint!
I finished at 9pm last nite, exhausted and covered in paint on my new paint clothes to add to the huge pile of already splattered clothes!
I did manage to cook dinner and put on a couple of loads of washing between coats...
I waited till 11pm,showered and fed, crawled into bed,and asleep before I hit the pillow. The smell was almost gone, or I was just use to it, but I left the french doors open for ventilation......

Hence the headache this morning!

Because all of you fabulous bloggers are loving sneekpeeks, here's some to feast your eyes on!

Still so much to do, but Im loving the colours.
I'll be feeling a bit 'Time' deprived from now, as alot of you can relate, because apparently there are only three weeks till Christmas!

So now, to drag out the tree and decs for my last post for the year, stay tuned!

While hubby's away, the wife will...dismantle?

Oh my god, what am I doing?? I have gotten out of control! I have pulled apart just about every room in the house, only to find it wont all go back together again...I was never good at jigsaw puzzles either!

I cant just clean a room, I like to rearrange, to find that little bit of extra space,it is an 'in house' joke with my husband and kids! Whenever they come home and see everything moved, they say," oh there's much more room now"! Well, they wouldnt be saying it now.

I am under pressure , Wednesday is the deadline...

I have decided to invite a few tradesmen into my home to fix and finish off some jobs, another distraction, but do you know how hard it is to find any and have them give a quote??Do any of you have the same problem, or is it just me??

I feel all I have been doing lately is painting, sanding, painting, and more painting, oh, and cleaning!! Look what I found on my verandah, hiding in the corner? I couldnt even get in front to take the photo. Now look at what I did to it...

The finished result is quite rewarding. I am sooo happy with it, I had to just give you a sneek peek before I list it...now that's what you call 'Shabby and Chic!!!

I bought a new toy, no, not that kind of toy... an electric stapler / nailgun. It is fantastic for upholstery, though a bit hairy, no , not that kind of toy...scary!

Finally, I would like to thank Coll ,Collsgarden and Katrina,Little LaLas! Yay, I received the "Nice Award". Oh if they only knew me better!!! Still new to blogland, I decided that you are all worthy, and dont need an award to prove it!
Something weird just happened...A friend just came to my door with a box full of old brass castors to give me, she offered them to me about 2 years ago, and we forgot all about it. I have listed on ebay, a teatrolley, but it is missing the castors.....oh my god, how weird is that??
Well, I have listed a few more on ebay, but this cleaning is getting nowhere fast!! Im beyond help, my dear parents are coming to the rescue, can always count on them to pickup the pieces!!

While hubby's away ,the wife will...clean!

Well hubby is on yet another trip for a while, so cleaning has become a high priority! A bit early for a 'spring clean', but only a few weeks, and I have to take advantage of my free time!I say 'free', as I find I can pull things out, move things around, and put them back in order, when I feel like it!! The kids dont care, they just walk around, or over!

I like to do at least 'something' to surprise him on his return, so I am setting myself the biggest challenge, Im clearing the verandah!!! I know, as overwhelming as it is, Im attempting it anyway.Today, I took away 5 items ,but I moved in 4! Slowly but surely, we'll see!

He has left me without a car, another challenge for myself, but my neighbour has been very charitable...she knows if I dont get out regulary to fossick for junk, well, you just dont want to know what happens! So here are a few of my finds, umming and arrring as to whether to keep them, I really have trouble with 'separation anxiety'.

A dear friend of mine actually gave me some things, she did her spring clean even earlier than me, and I turned up for lunch, to a huge pile of allsorts! So check out my ebay store over the coming weeks, there is some serious selling about to start!

In the mean time, I have some more collections to share with you, yes MORE.....

I love the old handmirrors and brushes, I convert them to frames for photos, oh look, there's more mags under them as well!

These mags have been read a dozen times, and edited, so my neighbour is gradually selling them at the local markets...some are from the early 80's, and they are all home ,country collections, and the american country mags, yes I know, its a problem...I love plates, and i love blue, so this is just a smidgen of my collection. You cant even imagine what my dusting regiment is...well only those mad collectors like me would have an idea! I hate it with a passion, one day I will buy a glass cabinet and store them in there. My husband would think otherwise...get rid of them!!!I think that is all of my collections for now, I'll give you a break!!!
