See what happens when Im left home alone?

I was left to my own devices over Easter which involved mixed emotions....Hubby and son went for a charity ride out to Burke!

I spent my wedding anniversary alone, but thankfully my friend came and kept me company.

I caught up with friends and family.

I ate some melted Easteregg my daughter bought me.

And....I made this!!!

Well, when I say I made it, I didnt really make it, I styled it!

I had a very old, some might say vintage, school chalkboard taking up space on my verandah.

I thought what better place to use it than as a bed head in my guestroom!

My first guest was my eldest daughter, she complained the timber hurt her head...

I finally bought the materials to make the soft insert, but before I could put it together, I had another guest stay in the guest room, he didnt like the timber in the head either... 

So as a distraction from my presentation I should be preparing, I finally finished it today, but not before my middle daughter decided to stay in the guestroom tonight...

You can guess the outcome this morning...

So today ,I finally installed the soft insert.

Doesnt it look pretty?

Im happy with it, it's high, it's large, and it's the feature of the room... though I will also upholster the lower timber that you can just see, to be assured of no more sore heads!

Now for the rest of the room, starting with the horrible walls....

Its that time again!

Easter is rolling in, and for some it will be a race to collect as many eggs on the hunt, I miss those days....

We are spending Easter Sunday with mum, and visiting dad in hospital.

I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend, and stuff yourselves silly, and enjoy family time!!

Confession # 245: Ok, I'm plastered!

This post makes me laugh, a nervous, worried laugh...read on....

A dear friend of mine gave me a stack of plaster cornices and decorative pieces she had stored under her house. I love them, and was so excited to start some new projects!

That was over six weeks ago, they have sat on the back seat of my car, basically I didnt have a spare , safe space to put them!

Then one day, I was doing some computer work, and I caught a glimpse  on tv, of a guest Oprah had on, Peter Walsh. I have watched him before, and am amazed how he can transform people and their homes!

For those who dont know who he is, Peter is an Australian living in the US, his profession being a declutterer! You can read more about him *HERE*.

One of the questions he asked was,' Do you store 'stuff' in your car?'

Suffice to say, the plaster is out of the car, and on my beloved verandah!

Ive always have 'something' in my car, tables, chairs, cupboards, JUNK!

My son is on his Learners, and he has adjusted to rattles and clunking when turning corners and going over potholes!

I wouldnt call it storing...

Maybe laziness, or just the fact I have absolutely nowhere to put them!

Anyway, after hearing Peter's words amplified in my head for a few days, I immediately bought his new dvd,'It's all too much'.I'll be watching it today, when I can work up the courage!

Sue came up the mountains for a short stay, and didnt disappoint with her choice of flowers! It was nice to catch up and spend quality time together!

Well my Easter is a quiet one this year...my family are all going away!

Easter Sunday marks the 10th anniversary of a very traumatic event which changed our lives. Whilst time heals, and we adapted to a new lifestyle, I cant help but reflect, emotions and memories are flooding in.

'They' say experiences like these make us stronger and better people, so true.

I wish you all a Happy Easter, wherever you are, eat lots of chocolate, and enjoy family time!

Seasonal wishes!

I had a visit from my wonderful friend Sue, and she arrived with these beautiful flowers, and a hug! So of cause, I provided the tea!

We are seeing her again Easter Sunday with our families, hopefully she wont make us wear those silly bunny masks again!

Although the days are still quite warm here, the afternoons are starting to show signs of Autumn.The leaves are starting to drop, the fresh air moves in about 4.30, and the days are starting to shorten. Daylight saving is nearing the end. I know there are mixed thoughts when it comes to Daylight Saving, but I just love it, and will be sad for it to end. Im up early, and come in later, whether Im hosing the garden (with water from my tanks), or painting out on the verandah, it just feels like you live more! So Im cooking on the barby as often as possible, before it gets too cool, and dark.

Today I decided to make these cute flowers for Easter, and hand out to my neices and nephews, if they last till Sunday!!! So easy and quick to make. I soaked some skewers in green food colouring, bought a couple of hawaiin lays, (you could also use cupcake papers) and a bag of eggs, and set to work. All under $10! Try it, kids will love them!
