Restless and undecisive is me....

So much going on right now in my life and in my head!

It's times like this I become so overwhelmed with the tasks at hand, that I dont accomplish much at all, it is a real struggle to push through ...
Does anyone else feel like this too?

I shouldnt complain , I will be off on a sundrenched island very soon, chillaxing, eating lots of seafood, and drinking lots of cocktails....but there is a bit of pressure to finish off assessments, projects, and jobs before I go.

Hmmm, Ive lost your sympathy right now havent I!

We have also had family events, my sons graduation, my daughters 25th Birthday, and helping out my parents, which has been fun.

In the middle of it all, I decided to switch the living space around, and make it more functional for everyone, oh and always trying to make more room!

I have this alcove which for many years housed this configuration of shelving and cupboard, but in my struggle  journey to simplify, I have sold/given alot of my collections away, and really just wanted some basic shelving for photos, books and a few bits of memorabilia.

With no time to make shelving at present, I decided to add legs to my favourite drawers, and feature them in the alcove for a while.

I love these, and have used them for years filled with mags, candles, all sorts! I love timber, and have it everywhere, but Im feeling these are quite dark, and am close to reaching for a paint brush!

There's always lots to do around here, I probably create more than there needs to be, but for us creative people, though sometimes annoying, it is to be expected!

Procrastination overload...

You know that feeling of being buried in projects you pushed aside for a rainy day...and that rainy day never came?

well fortunately that day finally did come!

The possum problem I have had of late, has been the push I have needed to move some junk potential sales out to be cleaned up , fixed, and recreated.

To start with these two lights I bought from a garage sale quite a few years ago....I liked the look and I knew I could rewire them to work.

Actually this one was an infrared heating lamp, thank goodness they dont use these anymore! I liked the little stand and thought it would look great next to the lounge.

So I ripped out the heater, and installed the new wiring, and it all went together so easily. But when I put it on the stand, and placed it next to the lounge, it just looked wrong.

I thought it would be better up higher, maybe on a stand....

So out I went to my stash of junk project pieces, and low and behold, I knew exactly what I needed!

I remember finding this little guy, and had to fight for it, all $6.00 of it! Even back then I knew what I wanted it for!

Well dont they make a cute couple?

For ten minutes work, I could have put these together years ago, but  procrastinating is a funny thing....

The other fabulous light has come in handy on my desk...

So I guess these are keepers....for now ;)

Another light-ning moment, ha!

a new treasure to bring home, and junking for that special light!

Hi there fellow bloggers !

Well my guest room is nearrr-ly finished, I just have the light fitting to install, and painting the walls, so its not quite ready for reveal yet....

As everyone knows, Pinterest is such a great reference for ideas and styles, and Ive found a few light fittings that would look the part, but decided to do a bit of 'backyard junkshopping' just incase I had the perfect light right here!

After patching up a hole in my studio wall, kindly eaten away by the possums, I found a stash of great rusty junk , old stools, plant stands, wooden gates and a few pieces that would be fabulous lights!

So it came down to these three things....Im thinking the base of this would be cool!!!

Check back in soon , hopefully it will be installed next week!

~~~~~~~~
Today I had to run around in the car a bit, and deliver a cupboard....
I came home with a treasure found on the curb, she had lovely legs, I couldnt resist!
I love these gateleg tables, and although she is a bit neglected, I couldnt resist setting her up in her new place!
Well, I was thinking of selling her, and my facebook friends kinda twisted my arm to keep her...
She may just holiday here for a while....
See what happens when Im left home alone?
I was left to my own devices over Easter which involved mixed emotions....Hubby and son went for a charity ride out to Burke!
I spent my wedding anniversary alone, but thankfully my friend came and kept me company.
I caught up with friends and family.
I ate some melted Easteregg my daughter bought me.
And....I made this!!!
Well, when I say I made it, I didnt really make it, I styled it!
I had a very old, some might say vintage, school chalkboard taking up space on my verandah.
I thought what better place to use it than as a bed head in my guestroom!
My first guest was my eldest daughter, she complained the timber hurt her head...
I finally bought the materials to make the soft insert, but before I could put it together, I had another guest stay in the guest room, he didnt like the timber in the head either...
So as a distraction from my presentation I should be preparing, I finally finished it today, but not before my middle daughter decided to stay in the guestroom tonight...
You can guess the outcome this morning...
So today ,I finally installed the soft insert.
Doesnt it look pretty?
Im happy with it, it's high, it's large, and it's the feature of the room... though I will also upholster the lower timber that you can just see, to be assured of no more sore heads!
Now for the rest of the room, starting with the horrible walls....
Will keep you up to date via facebook!
Shopping trip like no other...
I love going shopping for junk, especially when Im in a creative mood.
Gotta grab it when you can these days, with limited time, it is hard to get those ideas flowing sometimes!
What's even better about this trip, is it is cheap on petrol and a hop,skip,and a jump away....under my house!
With all of the rain we have been having over the past few weeks, I was worried these wonderful pieces may get damaged, and go mouldy or rot.
I have a few ideas for these, some I will keep, and some I will sell.
In the first pic, I soon came to realize what I wanted!
I had been looking to replace this shelf in the kitchen.
I didnt really need storage anymore since I had been selling off
simplifying my home,and I created a new space for the glasses,
 so I wanted something that would be a
feature I could still change around if I felt the need...
So this is what I came up with!
as I mentioned, I created a new space for the glasses. I used this stand in my studio from time to time ,to house small things to purchase.It stood about 150cm.
Too busy to take before pics, I attacked it with the grinder, stuck a metal finial on top, and a new base, and wella!
I had to play with it a bit, so the glasses wouldnt clang, but now Im really happy with it!
So I think I have finished transforming a dull wall and corner.
Though I think I will replace the frame with a slightly larger one to even out the space...
It's true, I think everyone has eaten here and survived ok ;)
I live in a treehouse!
Sometimes it feels like it!
We have had so much rain, and the trees surrounding the house have grown at least a metre in a few weeks!
As I walk out on my back verandah, they are towering over, and all so green.
I love to take photos after it rains, everything is greener, fresher, and feel so alive.
I have quite a few climbers, and they have taken over....I need to take control!
I barely have room to hang the washing in a sunny spot.
Even the weeds look great, though I need to get ontop of it before they too take over!
Out the front, the same applies, but not as many trees to contend with so close to the house.
My cheeky wingless cherrub looks at home here in the garden.
Time for me to spend some much needed time in the garden and lawns, and give the chainsaw a workout!
At least my potted plants are not out of control...for now...
9.3.13
Never a dull moment here....
Well my absence isnt from lack of stories to tell or projects to share, or even being time deprived....I have just been living all of it, and too lazy to document it!
My enthusiasm for blogging isnt what it used to be. As much as I am doing it for myself, I couldnt help but notice friends I had started out with all those years ago, have left and moved on.
I guess other platforms of communication have taken priority.
I may not have moved on from Blogland just yet, but I have stepped away from my job to get back to my first love ,Interior design.
It seems since I last picked up a book related to this subject, computers had not yet entered the household!
In fact, any diplomas, certificates and achievements I earned, were pre-computers.....
So, a refresher course it is!
As some of you may remember ,I was working with hubby in the pool business. Whilst it was an experience,  it just wasnt creative enough for me.
Preparation came to mind when I stepped into my office/ whatever fits room!
I have been busy organising, ready for the start day next week.
Thankfully the past 6 months, my Simplifying has paid off, and I have plenty of room now.
Lots of desk space is needed for my drafting table, and all the equipment I will be using.
This large notice board / bedbase will be handy to keep check of my assessments.
The other side of the room isnt quite set up, but this beauty will house all my fabrics and trims, and all the little treasures I will need. I shopped my home  for this one, but I created alot more work for myself.
I will share that with you next time. Lets just say the snowball effect came into play.....
I think I have my work cut out for me, but Im very excited to be getting back into something I have loved since leaving school...all those years ago!
Please checkout my home project I whipped up today,
over on my facebook page....
What do you think?
I'll be back1
Xmas Dosh!
Isnt it nice to get some money for a Chrissy gift?
To go and buy that special pair of earrings you have always wanted, or put towards a holiday, or even some new clothes...
Well I spent it all in one go, and you are going to be so jealous!
I bought some timber to replace our ramps out the front and back of our house...yay...I said yay!!
We , my son and I,picked a 35deg day which made it all the more interesting...NOT!
The last pic is with one coat of stain, it needs a few more to darken it, but safe to say, we can walk on it now, and not get nails in our feet, it is screwed down tight!
Now onto the back ramp....money well spent, though I would have loved those new earrings....thankyou sweet husband of mine, so thoughtful!
Oh Sunny Days...
It has been pretty cold and windy here lately, and branches have fallen, valuable junk on my verandahs have come crashing down, dust swirling down the lane, and the awning on my studio is blowing in the wind!
Today is a bit calmer, though still cold!
I thought I'd get ahead of Spring even though it is only a couple of weeks away, I needed to tackle our bedroom so I could get into bed tonite :)
The sun was streaming in through the french doors, so I opened them to let some fresh air in...probably a tad fresher than I would have liked.
Confession #879...I have a hat problem.
One of my collections has gotten out of control. "Really?"( you say with sarcasm )
With the intentions of putting up a shelf / hook thingy, I left the hats piled up on the floor....for 6 months!
These will have to sit on my dresser until I feel inclined to make a more permanent home for them!
 I moved a few into the 'guest room', the colours were more suited in there.
One thing lead to another, and I cleaned, I shuffled, I organised, and I prettied till my heart was content with the outcome! Hatboxes filled with scarves and belts, and beauty cases filled with hand mirrors and brushes! I love the vintage bedcover on my chair...
My side of the room done and dusted....now for hubby's!
